EPC - Wiltshire

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) have been introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings. If you are buying or selling a home you now need a certificate by law. From October 2008 EPCs will be required whenever a building is built, sold or rented out. The certificate provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average up to now being 'D'. Accredited energy assessors produce EPCs alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient.

EPC - Domestic

Energy Performance Certificates tell you how energy efficient a home is on a scale of A-G. The average property in the UK is in bands D-E . The Certificate includes recommendations on ways to improve the home's energy efficiency to save you money and help the environment.

Commercial EPC - DEC

EPCs for business premises and DEC for Public buildings Display Energy Certificates (DECs) show the actual energy usage of a building, the Operational Rating, and help the public see the energy efficiency of a building. This is based on the energy consumption of the building as recorded by gas, electricity and other meters. The DEC should be clearly displayed at all times and clearly visible to the public. A DEC is always accompanied by an Advisory Report that lists cost effective measures to improve the energy rating of the building.

Home Energy Advisor

Home Energy Advisors (HEAs) give advice to householders beyond the scope of the advice contained within an EPC and offer Free or heavily subsidised loft and cavity wall insulation if applicable.

The HEA will visit homes to undertake an energy assessment for individual households. This will identify recommendations to help reduce costs and lower carbon emissions. The recommendations will go beyond physical measures relating to the building and include changes to occupant behaviour to promote home energy efficiency and reduce fuel bills.

The HEA is a skilled advisor who can encourage and motivate householders to make both lifestyle changes and improvements to their properties which will benfit them and their home.
